Instead of lava, u have snow :p Winter is soo long this year, and it even showed up in your cfg :p I'm not at home yet, I will try to look for some solution at evening.

you probably have high R_intensity value (probably 2 or higher) which makes bright things really bright.
1) black sky / lava in baseq3 - keep in mind that not all servers support it (it must be on the server for you to use it as well).
2) set r_intensity lower - compensate with r_mapoverbrightbits / r_overbrightbits values

another thing which might make things better is to turn off ice shells off - which make killed enemy kind of brighter.
i guess command was cg_iceshells or something - too lazy to look it up.
